Jan O’Hara, WHNP

Jan O’Hara is a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) at Vickery Family Medicine and is also the owner of Asheville Childbirth Education where she teaches birthing classes and offers services such as midwifery.

In addition to her passion for childbirth, Jan enjoys providing health care for women of all ages in all phases of their lifecycle. One of her primary focuses is personalized Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). For patients experiencing uncomfortable symptoms of menopause, Jan offers HRT as a safe and effective alternative. She specifically recommends bioidenticals/compounded hormones and thinks there are multiple ways many women can benefit from their use. Jan explains, “HRT has been proven to treat hot flashes, ease vaginal discomfort, prevent bone loss, reduce fractures, and more in postmenopausal women with the use of bioidenticals—hormones that have the same chemical and molecular structure as hormones produced in the human body.”

You can learn more about HRT in Jan’s popular blog, “How Personalized Hormone Replacement Therapy Helps with Postmenopause,” and contact our office to schedule an appointment with her.

When Jan isn’t teaching childbirth classes or seeing patients, she’s with her kids, listening to live music, or out trail running in the Appalachians.

Jan has worked in a variety of settings including spending one year doing volunteer work in Honduras. She and her family have lived in Asheville since 2004.
